How to get your Form 23

Getting your certificate is straightforward. If you already know what the certificate is, you can skip the background and simply book — here is the whole path, start to finish. Not sure what a Form 23 actually covers? Read our Form 23 explainer first.

  1. 1

    Call or book online

Ring us on 0423 090 211 or send the quote form. Tell us your suburb and whether it is a pool or a spa, and we lock in a time that suits you.

  2. 2

We come to you and inspect

A VBA-registered inspector visits your property and assesses the whole barrier — height, gaps, the non-climbable zone, the gate and latch, and the CPR sign.

  3. 3

It passes — we issue and lodge the Form 23

When the barrier meets the standard, we issue your Form 23 Certificate of Barrier Compliance and lodge it with your council. You are done.

  4. 4

If not, you get a clear fix list and a re-check

If something does not comply, we hand you a plain list of what to change, then re-check just those items. Once it passes, we certify.

Need it in a hurry — for a sale, a lease or a council notice? We keep slots open for fast, often same-day inspections, and when your barrier passes on the day we issue the Form 23 straight away.

What to have ready before we arrive

A little preparation lets us finish in one visit and hand you the certificate sooner. Before your inspection, please make sure of three things:

  • Your pool or spa is registered with your council — this is the first legal step, and the inspector confirms the barrier standard against it.
  • We can reach the pool area and open the gate — clear away any locks, pets or stored items blocking access to the barrier and gate.
  • A current, readable CPR sign is displayed near the pool — a resuscitation sign is part of what the barrier is assessed against.

Not registered yet? Start with our pool & spa registration guide, then book your inspection — we can often arrange both close together.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a Form 23?

Book an inspection with a VBA-registered inspector. We come to your property, assess the pool or spa barrier, and if it complies we issue your Form 23 and lodge it with your council. You can book by phone on 0423 090 211 or through our online quote form.

How quickly can I get my Form 23?

Often the same day the barrier passes. We aim to inspect fast, and when your barrier meets the standard on the day, we issue the Form 23 straight away and lodge it with the council. If we spot items to fix, you get a clear list and we re-check once they are done.

What do I need before booking a Form 23 inspection?

Have your pool or spa registered with your council, make sure we can reach the pool area and open the gate, and display a current CPR sign near the pool. That lets us finish the inspection in a single visit.

Can I still get a Form 23 if my barrier fails?

Not straight away. If the barrier does not comply, the inspector lodges a Form 24 with council and hands you a list of what to fix. Once the items are sorted we re-inspect, and when it passes we issue your Form 23.
