What happens, step by step
You do not need to understand the rules yourself — that is our job. From your side it is a short, friendly process with a result on the day. Here is the whole journey.
- 1
You book
Call us on 0423 090 211 or send an online enquiry. Tell us your suburb and a little about the pool or spa, and we book a time that suits you — including after work and weekends.
- 2
We come to you and inspect the barrier
A VBA-registered inspector visits your property and checks the fence, gates, latches, the 900mm non-climbable zone and the CPR sign against the barrier standard that applied when your pool was built or approved. Nothing is sent away — it is all done on site.
- 3
You get a same-day result
You hear on the spot whether the barrier passes or needs work. There is no waiting days for a report to land in your inbox — you know where you stand before we drive away.
- 4
If it passes, we certify and lodge
We issue your Form 23 Certificate of Pool and Spa Barrier Compliance and lodge it with your council, so the paperwork side is handled for you.
- 5
If it does not pass, we help you get there
You get a clear, plain-English fix list. Sort the items yourself or with a tradesperson, then we return for a re-check and certify once the barrier is safe. Most small issues — a lazy latch, a foothold near the fence — are quick to put right.

How to prepare for your inspection
A few minutes of prep helps your barrier pass first time and saves a return visit. Before we arrive, please:
- Leave clear, unlocked access to the whole pool area and every gate so we can reach and test them
- Put the CPR / resuscitation sign up where it can be read from the pool area
- Make sure your pool or spa is registered with your council — that is the first legal step
- Move pot plants, chairs, tables and the BBQ away from the barrier — nothing that gives a foothold in the non-climbable zone
- Check each gate swings shut and latches on its own, and that the latch is not stiff
- Have the pool's build or approval date handy if you know it — it sets the standard we assess against
Ready to lock in a time? See what to have ready and get your Form 23, or call us and we will walk you through it.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a pool barrier inspection take?
For a typical single pool or spa, the on-site inspection usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes. We check the fence, gates, latches, the non-climbable zone and the CPR sign, then give you the result before we leave.
Do I need to be home for the inspection?
It helps but it is not essential. What we do need is clear, unlocked access to the whole pool area and every gate. If you cannot be there, just leave the side gate open for us and a phone number we can reach you on.
What happens if my barrier does not pass the first time?
You get a clear, plain-English list of exactly what needs fixing — no jargon. You can fix the items yourself or with a tradesperson. When you are ready we come back for a re-check, and once it passes we issue your Form 23.
How soon do I get my Form 23 after a pass?
As soon as the barrier passes we prepare your Form 23 Certificate of Pool and Spa Barrier Compliance and lodge it with your council. There is no long wait for a written report — the certificate follows the pass, not weeks later.
